Sémillon

Sémillon wines have a full body but flavours closer to Pinot Gris or Sauvignon Blanc. It’s an important blending component in White Bordeaux but is gaining popularity as a single varietal wine.

Depending on where Sémillon is grown and the style in which it is made, it can range from being a fresh dry and tangy, palate-cleanser wine like Sauvignon Blanc to a rich, creamy, waxy wine like oaked Chardonnay.

When made in a sweet style, for example as a Sauternes, it can age for decades and takes on a richer golden colour.

Our pairing tips: As a dry white wine, because it is quite versatile and has a medium body, whilst maintaining bright flavours, Sémillon holds up to bolder aromatic and spicy dishes.
